Description

Description ,l O Brief Description of the Drawings: SFig. 1 2: Shows the completed wedge-housing with mount details.
e¢3 Fig.3 4: Shows the installed wedge-housing during servicing with camera bracket.
6: Shows the installed wedge-housing with installed t viewing port.
Fig.7, 8 9: Shows the completed wedge-housing in side and front projection with moving parts.
Fig. lO: Shows a schematic section through the Front-Top fastening arrangement.
SFig. 11: Shows a schematic section through the Front-Bottom fastening arrangement.
Fig. 12: Shows a schematic section through the Rear-Pivot fastening arrangement.
Fig.13: Shows the installed wedge-housing.
Fig. 14: Shows the installed wedge-housing slightly open.
Description of the preferred Embodiment: Referring to, a Surface-Mount-Wedge Housing according to the present innovation with Upper-Wedge 1 and Lower-Wedge 2 containing front viewing port 3. Upper-Wedge lis preferably constructed from one piece but may include weakened areas that can be used for cable access openings 4, pressed in fasteners 10 that serve as a mounting point for an articulated camera bracket assembly 5 and pre-manufactured holes for on-site installation 9.
The Surface-Mount-Wedge Housing when disassembled or opened as in Fig.3 to 6, consists of two shallower wedges 1 and 2 that are pivotally joined 6 at the ???sharp end??? of the wedge, i.e. opposite the viewing port 3. Both wedge halves 1 and 2, upper and lower are concave and arranged opposed to each other to form a protective shell construction.
The Upper-Wedge half 1 as shown in Fig. 2, 5 and 6 is mounted with its back to the ceiling through holes 9.
The Upper-Wedge half 1 as shown in Fig. 3, 4 and 9 is holding and aligning the Ocamera, either directly or indirectly through another bracket The Lower-Wedge half 2 as shown in Fig. 1 through to Fig.7, pivotally joined 6 at the O rear to the Upper-Wedge 1 can swing down freely to allow access when Front-Upper fastening elements 7 are released.
A glass or clear plastic window 3 is retained in the Lower-Wedge 2, as shown in Fig.6 solely through fasteners 7 and 8.
OFig.3, 4 and 5 depict front window 3 during its removal or replacement.
OFig. 10 is a schematic cross section through the Front-Upper Fastener arrangement b showing the female fastener component 7b permanently anchored in the Lower- SWedge 2 and its folded overlap 2b and fastener 7 joining Upper-Wedge 1 with its folded overlap lb to female anchor 7b and simultaneously shape locking front window 3 in position.
Fig. 11 is a schematic cross section through the Front-Lower Fastener arrangement showing the female fastener component 8b permanently anchored in the Lower- Wedge 2 and its folded overlap 2b and fastener 8 locked inside female anchor 8b and simultaneously shape locking front window 3 in position.
Fig. 12 is a schematic cross section through the Rear-Pivot arrangement showing the sequential fixing and alignment of the Upper-Wedge 1 with its folded overlap lb to the Lower-Wedge 2 and its folded overlap 2b by means of a rivet 6 acting as a fastener and pivot at the same time. Rivet 6 may be replaced with a standard bolt and stop-nut pairing without loosing any functionality or allowing access to the housing from the rear.
Fig.13 and 14 show the removal of Front-Top fastener 7 and Front-Bottom fastener 8 in situ, both of which may be special fasteners that prevent unauthorized use.

Claims (2)

  1. 3. A protective enclosure for a camera comprising two folded sheet metal portions with a common pivotal axis, the improvement wherein the position of folded metal overlaps in the upper and lower portions is secured by a fastening means or pin while simultaneously retaining a frontal viewing pane inside the lower sheet metal portion and preventing unauthorized front access to the enclosure.
  2. 4. A protective enclosure for a camera comprising two folded sheet metal portions with a common pivotal axis, the improvement wherein the position and shape of the frontal viewing pane placed in the lower portion is secured by no additional fastening means other than mentioned in Claim 2 and Claim 3. A protective enclosure for a camera comprising two folded sheet metal portions with a common pivotal axis, the improvement wherein the shape and strength of the upper and lower portions is secured by no additional processes or elements other than mentioned in Claim 1, 2 and 3.
