Description

AUSTRALIA
Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT Oyster Quilt Cover The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to us.
r
O
Oyster Quilt Cover The present invention is in the general field of duvet and more Sspecifically is in the field of duvet covers for housing and making secure duvets.
0Current duvet covers (also known as quilt covers, doona covers) have consisted of a device which commonly consists of two sheet- Slike elements placed on top of each other and sewn on three t- marginal ends with some attaching means such as studs securing lO the forth marginal end. The quilt has to be stuffed into the device -1 and generally shaken to distribute the quilt evenly inside its structure. This has proved a common difficulty, especially for those suffering from ailments such as arthritis or for the elderly or for the young.
An invention may be embodied in a quilt cover and method of providing same, and possibly also a method of covering a duvet. In particular, the quilt cover comprises a pair of sheet-like elements joined or folded along one marginal edge. The marginal edge can be a side or end wherein one of the sheet elements defines a lower quilt cover surface and the other sheet an upper quilt cover surface.
In use, one sheet is draped over the bed surface configured to receive the duvet. The quilt is disposed over the first laid out surface and the second sheet element is brought over the duvet and the first sheet element so that the duvet is substantially disposed therein. The sheet elements are configured to then be able to be attached to each other so as to substantially seal the duvet within the quilt cover sheet elements. We note that in particularly preferred embodiments, fixing means are provided to allow the quilt to be releasably attached to the sheet elements of the quilt cover at pre-determined locations to ensure the quilt does not 'bunch up' non-uniformly over the surface. We note that studs, Velcro, buttons, ties or other preferred means to attach the duvet to Oyster Quilt Cover Complete Specification the quilt cover or the quilt cover sheet elements together can be o employed.
0 o The Oyster Quilt Cover is best made from materials such as cotton or linen or synthetic cloths or any combination of the above or of 0any other suitable material or materials used or which can be used 0for making duvet covers.
ROne prototype (see Diagram B) has the sheets fixed at one narrow C 10 marginal end. The other marginal end has buttons on one sheet and Smatching button holes on the second sheet. Zippers are attached to the wide marginal ends. Zippers consist of two parts which become joined when the zipper is closed. These two parts are part A and part B. The zippers have part A on one sheet and part B on the second sheet. The zippers are joined at the end of the sheet elements which are already attached (sewn).
The zippers are then drawn towards the second narrow end. When fully joined the buttons at the second narrow end are drawn through the button holes completing the sealing of the device.
