FROM :Espresso Services Plus. FAlX NO. :029493275 18 Apr. 2007 6:12PM P3 0 oo Australia Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT RECESSED ESPRESSO COFFEE MACHINE The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: COMS ID No: SBMI-07042738 Received by IP Australia: Time 17:57 Date 2007-04-18 FROM :Espresso Services Plus. FAX NO. :0299493275 18 pr. 2007 06:13PM P4 0 RECESSED ESPRESSO COFFEE MACHINE 00 Since :its creation, Espresso Coffee Machines have consisted of a device that sits on top of a bench and creates a barrier between the barista and the customer, or 5- staff. This invention creates a cleaner workspace and a Smore personal interface between barista and customer.
O With the creation of the thermosyphonic group head in 1960, the group head was no longer required to o be physically attached to the boiler. The necessary heat S 10- for the group head was created by hot water circulating through the heat exchange unit to the group head returning to the heat exchange unit, as opposed to heat created through metal conductivity from the boiler. This invention takes advantage of that system, allowing us to recess the boiler and other mechanical components such as the pump, central process unit, pressure switch, flow meter and other components beneath the bench height.
The reces8ed espresso coffee machine in accordance to this invention comprises a coffee machine having a group interface plate that lies on any pre cut bench that has available space underneath the bench top to fit the recessed espresso coffee machine. From the group interface plate rises a group post to which the group head is attached. All piping and cables necessary for the group head to work are housed in the rear group post cover. Steam and hot water pipes preferably rise from the said group interface plate, however, can also come through together with the said group post. A frame attaches to the underneath of the said group interface plate and sits under the bench to hold all mechanical components of the espresso coffee machine.
The said group post. is preferably made of a stainless steel bar with enough strength to hold the group head stable, allowing the user to operate the group COMS ID No: SBMI-07042738 Received by IP Australia: Time 17:57 Date 2007-04-18 FROM :Espresso Services Plus. FAlX NO. :0299493275 18 pr. 207 06:13PM 0 0 Sappropriately. It can also be made of a stainless steel profile proven it has enough strength. It: can be welded or bolted 00 to the said group interface plate or, be passed through a hole and be fixed to the said frame or group interface plate allowing preferred group height adjustments.
The said rear group post cover is preferably o made of a stainless steel profile providing an elegant finish.
SIt can also be made of other materials such as acrylic or aluminum.
The said group interface plate is preferably Cmade of a stainless steel plate with an integrated waste and cups trough. The said group interface plate has a drips trough and grill under the group head to support the cups while making coffee and receives liquid waste for disposal.
The said group interface plate has recessed to its rear a cups warming trough housing a removable cups basket. This trough allows heat to be easily venLed from above the boiler to warm the cups but does not allow water to pass through uncontrolled to the boiler and or onto other dry components.
It also has a cups steaming feature to help quickly heat cold cups within the said removable cups heating basket.
The said steam pipe is preferably made of a stainless steel tube connected to a flexible corrugated stainless steel tube with a solid hygienic nozzle at its end. A pipe preferably made of nylon runs inside to seal the steam stream and isolate heat from its outer stainless steel housing.
The said hot water pipe is preferably made of a stainless steel tube with a pipe preferably made of nylon running inside to seal the hot water stream and isolate heat from its outer housing.
The invention may be better understood with reference to the illustrations of embodiments of the invention which: COMS ID No: SBMI-07042738 Received by IP Australia: Time 17:57 Date 2007-04-18 FROM :Espresso Services Plus. The Recessed Espresso Coffee Machine shown has a group interface plate Rising from the group interface plate (4) 5 is the group post Attached to the group post is the group Shead Connecting the group head to the heat exchange unit (14) are the pipes to complete the water circuit. Housing othese pipes is the rear group post cover Rising from the group interface plate is the steam pipe and the hot water pipe Attached to the underside of the group interface plate is the frame (11) that holds the boiler (17) and all the necessary components (16) of an espresso coffee machine. The Recessed Espresso Coffee Machine is designed to be fit into an existing bench (18) that has adequate space available underneath the bench top.
