ARTICLES
The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me/us:- File: 52424AUP00 501031434_1 DOC/5844 -la- O Tobacco mixture for roll your own smoking articles 0 The invention relates to a tobacco mixture for roll your own smoking articles, in particular for roll your own cigarettes. The tobacco mixture proposed by the invention is preferably used for making up filter-tipped cigarettes. By making up is meant rolling cigarettes by hand as well as preparing cigarettes with rolling machines, in particular hand rolling machines.
(Ni 00 00 The consumer who rolls his own cigarettes prefers to receive a large volume of tobacco for a t'q specific tobacco weight, so that he can roll a lot of cigarettes from a specific unit of tobacco in 10 terms of weight bag, tin). The volume which a specific quantity of tobacco is able to assume \O in the non-packed state in terms of weight, in other words as a loosely piled quantity, can be CK defined as "yield value". This yield value is an important parameter for such tobacco mixtures.
It is an object of the present invention to overcome or ameliorate at least one of the disadvantages of the prior art, or to provide a useful alternative.
It is an object of the invention, at least, its preferred form is, to optimise the yield value of a tobacco mixture.
According to a first aspect of the invention, there is provided, a tobacco mixture for roll your own smoking articles, in particular for roll your own cigarettes, comprises a tobacco material in respect of which: the moisture content of the tobacco mixture is in the range of 16-18%, the cut width of the tobacco material of the tobacco mixture is in the range of 0.7 mm, and the average length of the tobacco parts or tobacco fibres is shorter than that of normal finely cut tobacco, in particular up to a proportion of more than 30% of the tobacco mixture has a length of less than 4 mm.
Unless the context clearly requires otherwise, throughout the description and the claims, the words "comprise", "comprising", and the like are to be construed in an inclusive sense as opposed to an exclusive or exhaustive sense; that is to say, in the sense of "including, but not limited to".
-lb- In combination and in terms of their mutual correlation, the above features result in a tobacco (,i mixture with a surprisingly high yield value.. This means that a tobacco material with a surprisingly higher volume of the loose tobacco material can be produced from the same weight of tobacco material than is the case with conventional tobacco mixtures. Said parameters can therefore be selected so that the loose volumes of the tobacco can be significantly increased by reference to the tobacco weight; in particular, the tobacco mixture is more curled and therefore more resilient than conventional finely cut tobacco.
00 00 M The moisture content of the tobacco mixture is preferably 17%; the cut width is preferably C 10 0.6 mm. In one variant of the invention, the tobacco mixture contains the leaf tobacco parts as IDthe base material, which are of a length of less than 4 mm. In other words, the desired tobacco I-2-
\O
part length or tobacco fibre length can already be achieved if the base material already comprises pieces or parts that are shorter to this extent.
O
In one embodiment of the invention, the tobacco mixture may be or may contain an American 00 (K 5 blend comprising Virginia, Burley and Oriental tobaccos in particular.
In another preferred embodiment, a tobacco mixture is used which does not contain any 00 00 expanded tobacco and another option is for the tobacco mixture to contain a tobacco material M which has been treated with casing and/or flavouring.
