Description
EDITORIAL NOTE There are 3 pages of Description Bricklayers Pillar builder For many years brick fences with the classic pillar or column have been constructed using mainly a spirit level, and a few profiles. It is safe to say that a pillar/column strongly relies on the base to be a perfect square, and to be put in the correct position so that the remainder will come up a perfect square pillar. This invention has been specifically devised in order to improve the pillar/column building time and level of difficulty in order to obtain that perfectly square base and in turn a perfectly square and built pillar, it also can be pulled apart and refixed in order to build the infill panel walls in between the pillars and also can be used to build a complete fence (pillars and infill panel wall) at once by simply adding four profiles (for one section). The invention serves many purposes, a/ to lay a perfect base square at desired size, b/to build a perfect pillar at desired size, c/ to build infill panel walls perfectly between pillars, d/to build the pillars and infill panel walls at the same time e/ to reduce strain on the back whilst building, f/to be able to construct a brick fence more efficiently due to the spring loaded line holders and ergonomic design, f/ the pillar builder serves all purposes in the one set and makes it more cost effective to buy knowing the builder only needs to buy one. The Pillar builder is effective and readily useable, sold in packs, separately, or in pieces. There are no limitations to what and how you build a brick fence using the pillar builder, more squares and profiles means you can setup and connectively interlock all the items and build the whole fence at once if desired.
The Adjustable Square It has been created for a few very good reasons; -when building base course brickwork, it forces to keep the brick base perfectly square, (it frames the bricks) -,it can be easily removed and cleaned, then placed in its next position to frame its next base.
-it is adjustable in size so that users can change the size of the pillar width to whatever is desirable on the particular project, and a rule measure device is permanently printed on the device to make it user friendly.
-once all the single course bases have been laid into their positions, the remainder of the fence can be constructed.
-The profile contraption can now be fixed if desired.
Drawings; figure 1, 2 and 3 The Profile Contraption Also has a very handy purpose in this case; -when building the remainder of the pillar, the contraption is fixed to the adjustable square. It is a 4 profile contraption with adjustable leg lengths and adjustable as well to all pillar/column width sizes.
-this contraption is set to the desired pillar/column width size on its existing rule, and placed on top of the pillar base that has already been laid in part If set correctly to the correct measurements shown on the rule, it will in fact be a perfect contraption of a four profile guide in which a pillar/column is to be built.
-once set on top of pillar base, then it must be plumbed up. Using a spirit level simply plumb up one profile preferably one that is not in the construction line and is in an ergonomic area. Using props, this profile can be held in position which in turn moves all the other three profiles into the same perfectly plumb position.
There is an optional magnetic level bubble that can also be placed on the square to make it easily read whilst pluming up the profiles.
There are also optional line holders which make it easy to use a string line whilst laying bricks to totally remove the need to use a level.
-more than likely one or more of the profile bottoms at this stage are not touching the ground, therefore the next step is to adjust the leg lengths on those so that now you have a perfectly stable, plumb contraption in which you can begin to construct your pillar/column to your desired height.
-Once pillar/column is complete, contraption can be loosened and removed giving the user a perfectly plumb straight and level pillar at no time at all! Drawings; figure 4 and The Magnetic level Bubble Can be moved around from place to place on the adjustable square to give you a better indication of the profiles positions.
The Line Holder The line holder has been created to fulfil three purposes. 1/ Holding the line in position.
2/ Holding the line holder in position. 3/tensioning the stringline when in position and loosening the stringline when holder is pressed to be able to move it up to the next gauge line. These line holders are optional for bricklayers who have trouble using the conventional line blocks on a four profile contraption. The line holders are positioned in a rail type groove on the profile, and can be easily manoeuvred to the desired position. The line holder is held in position onto the profile by a spring loaded system, which by applying force onto two plates holds the line holder in position. As well as holding the holder, it also holds and tensions the string line to keep it tight. When the line holder is pressed, the string line has automatically been given slack, 35mm for each holder, in order to move it up to its next desired position.
The Infill Panel Wall Builder The pieces can be pulled apart and refixed to now construct the infill panel brick wall in between the pillars. The adjustable square now acts as an ingenious clamp for the profiles to hold them in the internal comer of the pillar and wall.
It also holds them off the back wall so that you can easily slip on your line and manoeuvre easily, and keep a good visual of how your corner is looking.
More profiles and squares would enable the bricklayer to fit them to the whole fence and build the fence in one go if desired as they all interlock in together, with the bricklayers pillar builder, there are no limitations.
Drawing; figure 8.
The Full Fence Builder Some bricklayers prefer to build their pillars and infill panel walls at the same time. By 3impiy adding some profiles onto the profile contraption, enables the bricklayer to be able to string a line for the pillars and the infill panel wall at the same time, which allows it to be constructed at once.
All parts can be pulled apart for easy storage More profiles and squares would enable the bricklayer to fit them to the whole fence and build the fence in one go if desired as they all interlock in together, with the bricklayers pillar builder, there are no limitations.
The Bricklayers pillar builder is preferably made from square tubular steel; however other materials or metals can also be used.
The Bricklayers Pillar Builder can be made using variable size square tubular steel The invention may be better understood with reference to the illustrations provided.
