Description

Description 0 The Water Jacket is a fire-fighting "napsack" of a unique design that provides additional comfort and protection for fire-fighters.
In the past fight-fighting napsacks have been heavy, uncomfortable and cumbersome devices that many firefighters have expressed reluctance to use. The Water Jacket is a comfortable 'jacket' that is work in a simlar manner to the common boating life jacket. It is worn over the head and secured with quick-release side straps. It is made from flexible PVC and is a 20 litre container consisting of two water reserviors (front and 0 O rear) which are connected by a hose that allows the water level to equalise between the front and back of the T wearer. This shifts the centre of gravity of the load from the wearer's back and shoulders, and moves it to the 0 O natural centre of gravity of the wearer, spreading the load comfortably between front and back, providing greatly improved comfort to the wearer.
In addition to comfort the Water Jacket also provides additional practical benefits: Heat shielding from radiant head and also provides a cooling effect on the body in high temperature situations. The flexible nature of the uniquely shaped bladders provides ease of movement and practical functionality. It has a holster on the front to hang the sprayer when not in use and a front located filler point so that the jacket can quickly and easily be refilled by the wearer without having to take it off. This also provides quick turnaround time in a critical fire-fighting situation.
