Description

AUSTRALIA
Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT Fan hanger clip The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: O2 o A HANGER CLIP THAT SLIPS ONTO THE DECORATIVE PLUG OF A CEILING FAN 1 This invention relates to a hanger clip that slips onto the decorative plug of a ceiling 00 fan and which funtions to allow for the hanging of a metal or plastic coat hanger so that the air flow generated by the blades of a ceiling fan assists the drying of clothes or other articles that may be hung on the coat hanger.
Fans such as ceiling fans are provided with a length of supporting pipe that is hung 0 by a bracket from the ceiling, the other end is attached a central hub enclosing the Smotor, and has several blades attached. these blades can vary in length from iup to 60cm. The blades are pitched such that when blades rotate, they intercept a 1 o body of air to cause an air flow. The length of supporting pipe is only used to support C the motor and is left with an open end at the bottom of the fan. A plastic decorative plug is used to plug up the cav i ty of the hollow supportive pipe.
In many cases delicate or personal items cannot or it is undesirable to hang on an outside clothes line for drying, or because of i ncl i ment weather, or the need for items to be dried faster without having to use a heated clothes dryer.
Some attempts have been made to provide rather clumsy and unweilding devices to air and dry clothes inside the home envioment. One such device is the clothes horse, a metal or wooden stand that are both clumsy and take up floor space, and does nothing to aid the drying of clothes.
The present invention is directed to a simple yet elegant solution to assist the drying of items by using the air flow generated by the ceiling fan.
The object of the invention to provide a simple and usefull means of drying items by using the airflow generated by the ceiling fan and and which may overcome some of the abovementioned disadvantages or provide the public with added advantages provided by the ceiling fan.
The hanger clip may be formed from either metal, plastic or perspex or any form of rigid material that will allow the hanger clip to perform its function.
In one form the hanger clip can have a forked upper section with a flat lower section that slids over the decorative plug holding it firmly in place.
In another form it may have an extended plug on the top so that it may replace the decorative plug and be inserted directly into the open end of the support pipe.
O3
O
C An embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to the following drawings in which drawing 1/3 Fig I is a view of a ceiling fan and the decorative plug.
Fig 2 shows the decorative plug in place in the support pipe.
The invention may be better understood with reference to the illustrations of embodiments of the invention which:- 0 o drawing 3/3 Fig 1 is a side view of the hanger clip which shows the forked top plate7 o that slides around the centre shaft of the decorative plug 4 and the lower Cl 15 plate 9 that presses against the bottom of the large flange of the decorative plug 4 and the gap 8 being smaller than the thickness of the large flange of the decorative plug 4 clamps the hanger plug firmly in place. Also shown is the trailing tail 10 with a hole 11 (fig 7) for the attachment of a coat hanger or other device.
Fig 2 is an end view of a hanger clip.
Fig 3 is a top view of the hanger clip showing the two fingers 6 that encircle the main shaft of the decorative plug 4.
Referring to the drawings together, there is shown a fan hub with blades attached 2 and a central stationary support pipe 1 and a decorative plug 4. (see Fig 1 and Fig 2) drawing 2/3 Fig 4 shows the placement of the hanger clip 5 onto the decorative plug 4.
It should be appreciated that various other changes and modifications can be made to the embodiment described without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
