Description

AUSTRALIA
Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT WHEELCHAIR HEADLIGHT IN CONTROLLER The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: WHEELCHAIR HEADLIGHT IN CONTROLLER SSome electric wheelchairs have headlight for driving illumination for the dark driving condition. The headlight requires supply wiring and suitable location. This increases the wheelchair cost and may have extra safety issue on the headlight wiring and location.
A wheelchair headlight in controller in accordance with this D invention comprises a headlight which is integrated with the 1 wheelchair joystick controller or other wheelchair control module for the driving illumination of the wheelchair. The headlight is integrated in the wheelchair joystick controller or other wheelchair control module which can be mounted to suit for the illumination of the wheelchair, and so that no external wiring is required directly for the headlight. The headlight can be at least one filament lamp or LED or other illumination device.
The wheelchair headlight in controller has the advantages of no extra external headlight wiring and the headlight in a good location.
The joystick controller is normally located in front of the wheelchair rest arm. That is the most suitable location for the wheelchair headlight. The headlight on/off control switch is normally on the control panel of the joystick controller. The headlight integrated in controller saves all external wirings for the headlight. This will improve the reliability of the wheelchair control system. This will reduce the wheelchair system cost.
This wheelchair headlight in controller may be implemented with one or more filament lamps or LEDs or other illumination devices integrated in the case of the wheelchair joystick controller. The headlight can be integrated in other wheelchair control module which can be mounted to suit for the wheelchair illumination, so that no external headlight wiring is required. With the headlight integrated with the control module, more intelligent illumination function can be implemented inside the control module. The popular 2 4KI lamp, for example a 12V halogen lamp or the LED array, can be supplied with an internal SMPS, even the electric wheelchair Snormally uses 24V battery. The momentary switch can be used to control an electronic switch for the on/off operation of the headlight.
The ultra-bright white LED array could be the best choice for the integrated wheelchair headlight.
The invention may be better understood with reference to the illustration of embodiment of the invention which:- Figure 1 is an elevation of a wheelchair with a joystick controller 1 and a joystick 2 and a headlight 3. The headlight 3 is integrated in the joystick controller 1 and located face to the front of the wheelchair, so the headlight may illuminate the front floor of the wheelchair.
Figure 2 is an elevation of a headlight 3 with a flexible joint 4 attach to the wheelchair joystick controller 1. The wirings 5 of the headlight 3 go directly into the joystick controller 1. The direction of the headlight 3 can be adjusted.

Claims (4)

  1. 2. A headlight as claimed in claim 1 is integrated in or attached to the wheelchair joystick controller or other wheelchair control Dmodule which can be mounted to suit for the illumination of the wheelchair, and so that no external wheelchair wiring is required directly for the headlight.
  2. 3. A headlight as claimed in claim 1 can be at least one filament lamp or LED or other illumination device.
  3. 4. A headlight as claimed in claim 1 has a flexible joint with the wheelchair joystick controller or other wheelchair control module, so the direction of the headlight can be adjusted.
  4. 5. A headlight substantially as herein before described with reference to the description and/or the accompanying drawings. DONGNING ZHANG 14 January 2005
