Description

Description Slotted Clutch Pressure Plate This invention is the addition of slots machined into the friction coupling face of the pressure plate of a clutch cover assembly.
The purpose of the slots is in principal the same that applies to brake disk rotors. Benefits of the slots include improved fade resistance, improved conditioning of the contact face of the friction coupling material via a wiping action generated by the slot, and improved wear characteristics across the profile of the contact face of the friction coupling material. Improvements in torque capacity of the clutch system and overall performance as a power coupling device will also be significant benefits of the addition of slots.
