Description

Regulation 3.2
AUSTRALIA
Patents Act 1990 COMIPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT Name of Applicant: Actual Inventor(s): Address for Service: Invention Title: BRETT GREBERT BRETT GREBERT SANDERCOCK COWIE SUITE 8C, 50-54 ROBINSON STREET DANDENONG VIC 3175 G-STRING GARMENT Fc2004-04-20,A:\493grebcrt fle. wpd, I la- TITLE: G-STRING GARMENT FIELD OF THE INVENTION This invention concerns women's undergarments.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Embellishment of the skin has become more fashionable and removable transfers, paint and glitter are popular especially among young women. Tattoos are regarded somewhat differently because they are permanent. In this specification the term "tattoo" means a 2004-04-20,A:\489gprebortinnpa~wpd, I -2picture drawn on the human skin with a dark outline. Colour and shading are optional but usual. The subjects vary but traditional motifs are widely seen. The popularity of tribal and Celtic motifs has increased especially when drawn as a ribbon or band encircling the arm or in women at the base of the spine has increased. In this specification, the term waistband means the top edge of the undergarment, whether there is just an elasticated border or a recognisable waistband. In my Innovation Patent No.
2003100395, I describe a womans g-string undergarment with a waistband, wherein the dorsal portion of the waistband and portion adjacent the dorsal portion depict a tattoo on the background of flesh coloured fabric.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION This invention provides a women's undergarment, wherein the area defined by the dorsal waist and portion below is made of transparent sheet material which depicts a tattoo. The sheet material may be transparent sheet plastic, for example pvc. Preferably, the waistband is made of the same material. Only the central part of the garment need be made of fabric.
In an alternative form of the invention, the transparent sheet material is thick plastic material which has some opacity but through which the colour of the skin is visible.
Visibility of the skin colour is more important than the appearance of the skin itself because the tattoo occupies much of the area of the dorsal portion which in practice is on view. Thus the upper most part of the dorsal area is visible when skirts and jeans are worn of the type that rest low on the womans hips.
The tattoo may extend over that dorsal part of the waistband and the portion which overlies the base of the spine across the top of the buttocks where the tattoo is commonly applied. The tattoo may be T-shaped following the cleavage of the buttocks. In g-string undergarments, the tattoo is therefore T-shaped in outline from the dorsal aspect just like the fabric, whereas the front of the garment and crutch may be conventional.
The presentation of the tattoo is to give the impression to the viewer that the wearer has a genuine tattoo albeit only a part of it is seen, the rest being covered by the skirt, shorts 2004-04-20,A:\489greber.innpatwpd,2 or trousers. Accordingly, the tattoo may be applied to flesh coloured knickers of any shape if they have fabric in the area where the tattoo is commonly applied.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS One embodiment is now described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:- Figure 1 is a plan view of the garment.
Figure 2 is a rear view of the garment showing the area of the tattoo.
Figure 3 shows a pair of knickers with transparent dorsal panel.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION WITH RESPECT TO THE DRAWINGS In Figures 1 and 2, a triangular front panel is supported by tape 4 which is sewn into loops 6 for the capture of alloy rings 8. The rear panel 10 is made from pvc sheet with a shiny surface having an adhered loop 12 and a pair of straps 14 which engage the loops and are arranged in adjusted positions by sliding buckles 16. The rear panel rests close to the skin in use and the colour of the skin is unchanged because the transparency is nearly 100%. The tattoo is printed on the pvc and contrasts highly with the skin colour so as to be perceivable in dim light.
In Figure 3, the knickers are made up from conventionally shaped pattern pieces which have been modified by the inclusion of a panel 18 made of see-through polyethylene (LHDP) film. This is much thinner than pvc film used in the Figure 1 and 2 embodiment because the panel is part of a sewn together garment. The sheet material is perforated to allow the skin to "breathe".
In all the figures the area of the tattoo is indicated by the broken line border.
2004-04-20,A:\489greberninnpa.wpd,3 -4- We have found the advantages of the above garment to be:- 1. The skin colour of the wearer is visible through the garment.
2. The expense and inconvenience of a tattoo is avoided.
3. The wearer can choose to wear a variety of tattoos.
It is to be understood that the word "comprising" as used throughout the specification is to be interpreted in its inclusive form, ie. use of the word "comprising" does not exclude the addition of other elements.
It is to be understood that various modifications of and/or additions to the invention can be made without departing from the basic nature of the invention. These modifications and/or additions are therefore considered to fall within the scope of the invention.
