Abstract

The security element (2), for protection against forgery e.g. of a card (1) with a chip (11), has a refraction pattern (3) which is visible in zones as a holograph effect. The security element has a carrier and a substrate with a surface structure towards the carrier which has at least a partial optical refraction effect. An adhesive layer bonds the carrier and substrate.
