Abstract
The invention relates to a method for producing locally functional areas, particularly photocatalytically active structures, in a layer containing titanium oxide. A modification of the titanium oxide-containing layer, which is photocatalytically inactive at first, is converted into a photocatalytically active modification by means of local heating. The photocatalytically activated areas display photoinduced hydrophilicity and/or have the photoinduced capability to degrade organic substances.
