Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT MEMBRANE PRESS PIN BLOCKS The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: MEMBRANE PRESS PIN BLOCKS This invention relates to an innovative improvement in spacing the panels on the press tray.
In all membrane presses the panels being pressed need to be raised up off the press tray so that the film membrane may be forced to the bottom edge of the panels.
In all previous methods known to the inventor the spacing system consists of adjustable frames or fixed location, retractable pins. All of these methods are believed to be either slow to adjust or expensive to install.
The innovative invention of the Pin Blocks system is relatively inexpensive, quick and easy to use.
These Pin Blocks are slightly tapered so that vinyl film may be removed from the Pin Blocks without disturbing them as they are held in place by a magnetic force. The tapered Pin Blocks also allows for the film to form over them without difficulty, therefore, the Pin Blocks need not be removed or retracted.
A further advantage of the Pin Blocks is that in the event of the panel edge being on top of a Pin Block, the Pin Block may be moved under the panel without difficulty, where as, permanent, fixed position, location retractable pins in this situation are retracted and not used leaving the panel with less support.
To assist with the understanding of this innovative invention reference to accompanying drawings will be made.
Figure 1 shows the cross section of the Pin Block.
Figure 2 shows the cross section of the tray, Pin Blocks and panel.
Figure 3 shows the tray with the Pin Blocks.
It can be seen in Figure 1 that the Pin Block housing is slightly tapered and has a permanent magnet press fit into its base. The housing has a rubber pad glued to its top. All of which comprises the Pin Block Shown in Figure 2 is the Tray set up. The pressed vinyl film and panel are placed on top of the Pin Blocks inside the steel tray 2 Shown in Figure 3 is the complete tray with the Pin Blocks located inside it.
It has been proved that this new innovative Pin Block system is cheaper to install when compared to the Retractable Pin Tray System and is faster and easier to use than the Framed Jig System.
