Abstract

The present invention relates to utility meter and, in particular, relates to the same having a bi-directional optically/isolated communications port. The bi-directional functionality of the meter is provided by an LED device which is operable to also provide an indication of utility consumption. A further advantage is that the circuit may be produced at lower cost.
