Abstract

The invention relates to an electrical component, comprising a base body (1), made from a ceramic material, the ohmic resistance of which has a positive temperature coefficient, at least two contact regions (2, 3), arranged on the base body to which contact elements (4, 5) are fixed, an organic-component-containing protective layer (6) and an intermediate layer (7), arranged between the base body (1) and the protective layer (6), which is impervious to the organic components and which completely encloses the base body (1). The invention further relates to a method for production of the component. According to the invention, the PTC resistance has the advantage of an improved charge storage stability due to the intermediate layer.
