Abstract

In order to provide a method for laser marking a polymer material, wherein no considerable change of the structure of the matrix of the polymer material takes place, a method comprising the following steps is proposed: providing a polymer material, wherein nano-particles and/or one or more nano-layers are provided in, under and/or on the polymer material, and wherein the nano-particles and/or nano-layer(s) comprise at least one laser-sensitive component; laser light acts upon a selected region of the polymer material such that the laser-sensitive component is at least partially modified in the physical structure thereof in said region.
