Abstract

1. Apparatus for mechanically separating individual parts of different shapes and sizes, for example for sorting injection mouldings and sprews, comprising a rotatable cage mounted at an angle and having two open ends, the cage outer surface being made up of spaced longitudinal members in the form of rods or bars (5, 20), the individual members (5, 20) being of any geometric shape and a plurality of longitudinal members (20) being mounted for pivoting in two discoid side rings at the two ends of the cage, and the pivotable longitudinal members (20) being interconnected via an operative adjustment drive, characterised in that the pivotable longitudinal members (20) are each pivotable, by way of a planetary plate (6), about a longitudinal member (5) fixedly mounted in the disc (1) and in that the longitudinal members (5, 20) rotate in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation of the cage.
