Abstract
Preparation of carbon nanotubes comprises: preparing a viscous paste from a catalytic support and a catalyst salt dissolved in water, applying the viscous paste in thin layers on an inert support to form a thin catalytic layer, heating and activating the thin catalytic layer in an oven at 600[deg]C, contacting the thin catalytic layer with a gaseous carbon source at 650-750[deg]C to form carbon nanotubes. An independent claim is included for a carbon nanotube formed by the process having a decomposition temperature higher than 489[deg]C with TA instruments high resolution R5 S5 (where R is resolution and S is sensitivity).
