Abstract

The inventive closure (1), in particular for sealing plastic bottles consists of at least two components, wherein the first component (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) is made of a plastic material, the second component (9) closes an oxygen scavenger and the first and second components are connected to each other in such a way that the second component has a free surface which is formed thereby and is provided with an active surface having a profile (9a, 9b) in such a way that said active surface is larger than the corresponding active surface devoid of said profile, i.e. with respect to a substentially flat surface. The type and concentration of an oxygen-absorbent material and the selection of the active surface profile are mutually adjustable in such a way that the sufficient amount of oxygen is removed from a bottle. For the production, in particular a two component-injection moulding process is used.
