Abstract

The assembly has four wires e.g. synthetic insulated wires, each including an electrical conductor (1) and a layer (2) of insulated material e.g. polyethylene. The wires are encased by a long shrinkable band (3) that is formed from a water permeable and expandable fleece. Long edges (3a) of the bands extend into spaces formed between the wires as water enters the assembly. An independent claim is also included for a process of manufacturing a stranded assembly for a communication cable.
