Abstract

The method involves defining correction instructions to correct engine control parameters obtained from differences between measured and nominal values of characteristic quantities of an exhaust gas and preset correction tables. Two preponderant parameters, for each operation zone, are determined and corrected using correction values obtained by preset correction cartographies (50, 51, 70, 71) stored in an electronic control unit (2). The engine control parameters are air flow, manifold pressure, pre-injected fuel quantity, centrifugal spark advance and rail pressure. An independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine.
