Abstract
The invention relates to a method for operating a heating element (10) of a motor vehicle, especially a sheathed-type glow plug of a self-igniting internal combustion engine (100) of the motor vehicle. In said method, the heating element (10) is triggered in accordance with several sensor signals (20a, 20b, ..), a confidence value indicating a probability that the internal combustion engine (100) will be started within a given interval is determined in accordance with the sensor signals (20a, 20b, ..), and the heating element (10) is triggered in accordance with the confidence value.
