Abstract

A clamping and/or centering device (10) for work pieces, particularly suitable for the automotive manufacturing field. The device (10) comprises a box-shaped body (13A, 13B) for supporting a movable clamping and/or centering member (11); the clamping and/or centering member (11) is operatively connected to an actuator (16) to be moved between a plurality of operative positions along a working stroke. An optical sensing set (22) for scanning and sensing the operative positions of the clamping member (11) is incorporated in the box-shaped body (13A, 13B); the sensing set (22) can be slidingly inserted in the box-shaped body (13A, 13B) from a backward end side facing the actuator (16), according to an axial direction. A manually settable electronic control unit (56) enables optical sensors of the sensing set (22) to be selectively activated.
