Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing a door panel, particularly in a fire-proof embodiment, with metal sheets. The inventive door panel comprises a case (1) which is made of sheet metal and forms one face (6) of the door panel as one door panel element and a cover (2) which is made of sheet metal and forms the other face (7) of the door panel as another door panel element. The two door panel elements (1, 2) are welded together in edge areas (3, 4) thereof. An edge area (4) of the first door panel element (2), which has at least one bend (19, 20), overlaps and encompasses an edge area (3) of the second door panel element (1). In order to simplify the production method while keeping costs low and ensuring suitability for the production of fire-proof doors, the inventive method comprises the following sequence of steps: a) the door panel element (1, 2) are joined, especially placed or slid on top of each other, and the edge area (4) of the first door panel element (2) is bent such that said edge area (4) at least partly overlaps and encompasses the edge area (3) of the second door panel element (1); and b) the overlapping edge areas (3, 4) are welded together from the outside by means of beam welding. The invention also relates to a door panel produced according to the inventive method.
