Abstract
Foamed body which is made by foaming rigid thermoplastic resin, which has a density of 3-17 kg/m3 and a dynamic spring constant of 40 times 10 power (6) or less, and in which the minimum value of 60% compression set measured on three mutually normal axes is 25% or less, the average cell dia. is 2.0 mm or less, the independent cell ratio is 50% or more and the cell structure contains a large number of ripples the start from the boundary of three or more cells and extend towards the centre of the cell membrane. In the foamed body mfr. a rigid thermoplastic resin foamed body is expanded by heating or 1 min or more in a steam atmosphere or water at 85 deg. C or more. It is shrunk to 70% or less of the final body vol., and then is matured and expanded for 24 hrs or more in a dry chamber at a temp. of 40 deg. C or more which is less than the resin's softening pt.
