Abstract

Melting furnace comprises a melting chamber (2) for receiving the melt which is divided by a separating wall (4) into chambers (6, 7) connected together by an opening (5). The chambers have a charge opening on the outlet side for the addition of material and a removal opening on the outlet side for the removal of the melt. The charge and removal openings are formed by shafts (8, 9) which protrude below the level of the filling level of the melt (S). A closable purification opening for the melt impurities is provided in the cover (3) above the lower mouth opening of the charge shaft. Preferred Features: The cover runs at least up to the level above the outlet of the charge shaft.
