Abstract

The invention relates to a connector (1, 56, 101, 156) for optical waveguide s (6, 6a, 7, 8, 106d), which comprises a connector housing (2, 43, 102, 143). A bundle of light guides (6, 6a, 7, 8, 106d) with optical fibers (7, 8) is introduced at the rear end of said housing, and ferrules (9, 10), into which the optical fibers (7, 8) are respectively introduced, exit at the front end of the housing. The ferrules (9, 10) are held inside a ferrule housing (3, 4 , 103, 104) in a spring-loaded manner, and the ferrule housing is placed insid e the connector housing (2, 43, 103, 143), which is shaped accordingly for accommodating the ferrule housing (3, 4, 103, 104). The connector (1, 56, 10 1, 156) is intended for plugging together with a coupling housing (31, 31', 131 , 32, 32', 132) that accommodates the connector (1, 56, 101, 156). The ferrule housing is comprised of a core housing (3, 103) and of a core inner housing (4, 104), which are designed for accommodating two individual ferrules (9, 10). The ferrules (9, 10) are held inside the core housing (3, 103), and the front ends of the ferrules (9, 10) project forward and through the core housing (3, 103). The rear ends of the ferrules (9, 10) project into the cor e inner housing (4, 104). The core housing (3, 103) and the core inner housing (4, 104)are at least partially plugged into one another and form a double unit (3-4, 103-104).
