Abstract

Each end (2,3) of the equipment for wrapping a film around a palletized load is composed of a support plate (2a,3a) having, overhanging one of its faces, a circular bearing surface (2b,3b) for the mounting of a freely rotating mandrel (1) and a tubular sleeve (2c,3c) for the mounting of the handle (4). Each sleeve has an internal abutment delimiting two counterbores (2e,3f). The handle is composed of a tube engaged and centered in the opposite counterbores supported only on one of the abutments. A rod (5) freely engaged in the sleeves and in the handle has one end (5a) engaging an abutment. The end of the rod is threaded and extends into the counterbore of the other sleeve to engage a tapped headpiece (6) subjected to a spring (7) mounted in the counterbore. A screwing action exerted on the tapped headpiece creates and adjustable pressure force in order to brake the support mandrel whereas a pressure exerted on the head cancels the braking.
