Abstract
A floating skimmer device for recovering and removing layers of pollutants on the surface of a body of water. The device comprises an engine (2) and a pump (3) mounted on a float (4), a flexible tubular hose (8) for removing the pollutants, said hose being connected at one end to the outlet (3a) of the pump (3), an opening formed in the side surface of the float (4), preferably near the bottom thereof, and opening into a trough arranged directly below the suction port of the pump (3), and an assembly for adjusting the submerged depth of the opening. The opening is defined by a horizontal lower lip (12) and the adjustment assembly can tilt the float (4) about an axis parallel thereto so that said lower lip (12) is level with the surface layer of pollutants.
