A fume extract hood for arrangement above a cooker or the like, preferably below or within upper cupboards (2) of fitted kitchens, with a blower (3) for drawing off and conveying the cooking fumes produced, said blower being arranged in the suction chamber of a box-shaped housing (1) with a forwardly and upwardly swingable front plate (7), which in the outwardly swung position forms a cooking fume catching canopy extending above the cooker, and with a filter (4) arranged in front of the suction side of the blower (3), which filter is formed from a fixed and an outwardly swingable filter part (5 and 6) respectively, the outwardly swingable filter part (6) together with the front plate (7) and a moveable cover plate (9) forming during outward swinging, a moveable unit, characterised in that the moveable cover plate (9) comprises a hooked end (10), by means of which it is hooked on to the niche (8) of the housing with the filter part (6) swung outwardly and in this position forms the upper covering for the widened suction chamber (12) and that the outwardly swung unit (6, 7, 9) is closed off by means of lateral segment-shaped flaps (13, 11).
