Abstract

1. An apparatus for lowering people by rope, especially for rescuing people from multi-storied buildings, comprising a support (1) in which a rope drum (5) is rotatably disposed between two support legs (2, 3), from which drum a rope (7) can be wound off, the free end of which is attached to a stationary point of attachment (9), further comprising a rope-drum brake system including two brake discs (21) provided on the support legs (2, 3) and forceable against the front sides (22) of the rope drum (5), which discs are formed as cup-spring-type and outwardly curved spring-look washers, and comprising an articulated tractive connection of the two support legs (2, 3) engaged by a suspension carrying the person such that the suspension force is converted into two force components forcing the support legs (2, 3) against the brake discs (21), characterized in that the brake discs (21) are flat-conical spring discs non-torsionally held in the support (1), the outer ring-shaped circumferential areas of which engage the front faces (22) of the rope drum (5), and that the support legs (2, 3), via a washer (20) in the central area, force against the brake discs (21), with the spring lock washers (21) being resiliently formed in a manner such that they deflect inwardly at a high axial load and, hence, after exceeding their planar position, snap into a second stable condition, wherein only the inner area of the spring-look washer (21) gets into engagement with the front side (22) of the rope drum (5).
