Abstract

The invention relates to an electronic clock independent of line voltage, which has an electric circuit (1) which in addition to the time-keeping function is capable, given the fulfilment of a condition which can be stipulated, of executing a special function (3) which is activated only for a comparatively short period but requires a comparatively high load current, and which has a device (4) for monitoring the energy content of its electric energy source (2). The monitoring of the energy content is performed by measuring the output voltage of the energy source (2). According to the invention, from time to time the device (4) automatically activates the special function (3) of the clock, without fulfilment of the relevant condition which can be stipulated, for the purpose of testing the output voltage of the energy source (2) for a short period. For the case in which the output voltage is below a threshold voltage (42) which can be stipulated, the device outputs an optical or acoustic warning signal (41). <IMAGE>
