Abstract

The train consists of two or more articulated connected units. During operation, two differently shaped or adjusted articulated joint types may be used between two neighbouring units (1,2) in the same train. The first type is a ball or cardan joint (3b), the second is a hinge joint (3a) with vertical hinge pin. At least some of the joint types may be switchable between two different functions. The cardan joint contains a blocking unit to reduce its function to that of a hinge unit. The unit consists of a piston-cylinder unit on either side of the joint, which are connected to two train units.
