Abstract
The invention relates to a method of extending the useful life of electrolyte solutions by eliminating interfering organic substances by means of regenerable adsorber polymers. The method is used for treating electrolyte solutions which, for example, are used in the electrolytic deposition of metal coatings and layers and in which the organic constituents of the bath have been converted into undesired byproducts as a result of reactions. An object of the invention is the low-cost elimination of interfering organic substances by means of regenerable adsorbents, primarily using adsorber polymers, with no or only minimal electrolyte losses occurring and the regeneration of the adsorbents being carried out using inorganic acids or alkalis. The complete desorption of the adsorbed mixtures is here achieved by an oxidative pretreatment of the loaded adsorbents and the subsequent regeneration steps.
