Abstract

Mitomycin derivatives of formula <CHEM> wherein W represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl having 2 to 19 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkylalkyl, a substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkenylalkyl or a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl; X represents methoxy or amino, or X and W together form -W-X- shown by the formula: <CHEM> or <CHEM> wherein U und V independently represent a substituted or unsubstituted lower alkyl, lower alkenyl or lower alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl or lower alkenyloxy group, or U and V together form -(CH2)m-CR<3>R<4>-CH2- (wherein m represents an integer of 0 to 1; R<3> and R<4> independently represents hydrogen, a lower alkyl or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl); Y represents hydrogen or methyl; Z represents hydrogen, methyl, a lower alkanoyl or an allyloxycarbonyl; one of R<1> and R<2> represents carbamoyloxymethyl and the other represents hydrogen, or R<1> and R<2> together form methylene (=CH2). The compounds have antitumor activity.
