Abstract

The insulation displacement connection element is formed from at least two thicknesses of metal (8,9) formed initially from a single metal band. This is folded into a block. At least one of the thickness of metal (8,9) is curved (E) out of its normal plane. A slot is cut through the curved section defining an insulation displacement channel (52) into which a cable may be inserted. The cable is gripped by each metal band, so that the conductor is held at two points. The curvature of one of the metal bands ensures that the two grip points are spaced along the length of the wire.
