Abstract

This back boiler consists mainly of a backplate (3) of specific shape, two chambers (1) and (2) through which pass six smoke pipes, four of which are of the semi-reverse draught type (6) (6a) (7) (7a), one is of the reverse draught type (11) and the last (8) is used for chimney sweeping. A fan (13) sends pulsed air through a duct (14) in the two chambers where it is heated due to the very large heat-exchange area. This air is then taken through ducts at (10) to the various rooms in the house. The firebox is closed by a sliding glass door. The shape and positioning of the pipes and the chambers make it possible too cool the smoke considerably, thus increasing efficiency.
