Abstract

1. Bulk material stratum (10) for athletic fields, notably soccer fields, comprising a multilayered top structure (12, 13, 15) pervious to water on a substratum (11) or substructure (11), wherein the covering layer (15) constituting the field surface and forming part of the top structure is pervious to water as well, characterized in that the covering layer (15) consists, at least in a predominant weight portion, of a substantially platelet-shaped bark material, the particles of which each have a maximum length of 100 mm as well as a thickness of less than 10 mm, which particles are compacted to form an essentially tread-resistant covering stratum of the bulk material stratum (10).
