Abstract

The radome is of the type having rigid panels (40) connected to each other by a framework. The framework comprises laminates (20) of fiberglass reinforced resin forming a structure electromagnetically matched with the operating frequency of the associated antennas. The panels (40) are sandwich panels comprising two skin parallel plastic laminates (47) encompassing a core (48) of foamed or honeycomb plastic material. The joints between the framework and the panels (40) are bolted joints. The geometry of the panels is based on an arrangement of hexagonal patterns (42,44) and pentagonal patterns (41,43) obtained by using trapezoids so as to form an arrangement of sections positioned and oriented in a pseudo-randomly manner.
