Abstract

Sintering of powder raw material in an installation with parallel calciner and furnace lines provided with multistage cyclone preheaters and a cooling unit (C) for air cooling of the sintered material. Air from the cooling unit passes as secondary air through the furnace and further through the furnace line. The process consists of successive stages of preheating, calcining and finally sintering in a furnace (K). A part of the material flow fed directly into the furnace (K) is separated and fed into the calciner (Ca1) which is provided with fuel at two levels and with tertiary air from the cooling unit (C).
