  Pressgiessverfahren.

  Press casting process.

Methods for casting by means of compressed air are already known, in which the outflow piece leading from the pressure chamber to the casting mold is constantly immersed in the metal bath. With these methods, the frequent destruction of the inflow piece gives rise to annoying operational disruptions. It has therefore already been proposed to arrange the outflow piece and metal bath so that they can move relative to one another and only allow the former to protrude into the metal bath for the duration of the casting process. Castings produced after such experiences are never homogeneous, since the metal is not freed from the gas and air pockets almost always occur.

Methods are also known which, in order to achieve a gas-free casting that is as homogeneous as possible, work with compressed air and a vacuum. However, these methods are complicated, slow and expensive, and constantly cause operational disruptions, since these methods either use multiple shut-off and compensation devices or the crucible is swiveled.

The subject matter of the invention is a further improvement of this method for casting using a gaseous pressure medium. According to the invention, the mold and the pressure space surrounding the metal bath are evacuated with the discharge piece not protruding into the metal bath, then the discharge piece is brought into the metal bath and then pressure is applied.

This ensures that the evacuation of the pressure chamber and the mold or vice versa, which is necessary for the success of a gas-free and homogeneous casting, can take place reliably as long as the casting material has not yet had access to the mold and at the same time the discharge piece is destroyed as a result of continuous immersion in the Metal bath is prevented.

The aim of the new process is to produce castings that are as gas-free and homogeneous as possible, quickly and cheaply, with a minimum of operational disruptions.

the outflow piece 2 protrudes into the metal bath (Fig. 2). Pressure is then applied through the pipe 7 so that the metal is pressed through the outlet piece 2 into the mold 8.

Without departing from the scope of the invention, the housing 10 can also be omitted and the evacuation tube 6 in this case opens either directly into the mold 8 or into the pressure chamber 1
