Zweitaktverbrennungskraftmaschine.

Two-stroke internal combustion engine.
The subject of the invention is a two-stroke internal combustion engine with a cylinder on the crank side which forms the charging and scavenging pump and which is separated from the crankcase by a partition that is moved by the piston rod and controls the pump inlets and outlets; According to the invention, this partition consists of a stationary part containing the inlet and outlet openings and a cylindrical slide moved in this part by the connecting rod.
The drawing shows a longitudinal section through such an internal combustion engine.
In the cylinder 1, which is cooled in a known manner, the piston 2 moves, to the pin of which the connecting rod 3 is hinged. This now slides, appropriately sealed, in a cylindrical slide 5, which moves under its influence in a bore in a partition wall 6 which separates the cylinder from the crankcase and is arranged in a stationary manner. The partition 6 contains the air or gas suction openings 7 and the pressure openings 8, which openings connect the interior of the cylinder with the bore of the partition 6 and are controlled by the slide 5.
The bore of the partition is in direct connection with a collector 9, from which inflow openings lead into the working space of the cylinder.
It is useful to actuate an injection pump 12, the stroke of which can be regulated by a cam 15, through the slide 5 by means of a rod 10, which is arranged in the extension of the slide axis and penetrates the housing, and a two-armed lever 11. The machine works as follows:
After starting and assuming that the piston is in the lower dead point, the air or gas is sucked into the pump chamber through the opening 7 that the control slide 5 has exposed when the piston moves upwards. This suction lasts until the top dead center, at which point the slide 5 closes the opening 7 and opens the opening 8.
During the downward movement of the piston, it presses the gas compressed between it and the partition 6 with the assistance of the control slide 5 into the collector 9; towards the end of its downward movement, the piston releases the outflow opening and almost simultaneously the inflow opening, so that the gas or air located in the collector 9 flows into the cylinder.
The control slide 5 moved by the connecting rod 3 simultaneously actuates the injection pump 12 by means of the rod 10 and the lever 11, the stroke of which can be set by the cam 13 either manually or by a controller.
The machine can be designed with any number of cylinders. In this case, the collector 9 has the purpose of distributing the air or gas pressures evenly and serving as a container for these gases.
The machine can also be designed without an injection pump and only equipped with a carburetor. In this case, this is connected to the partition 6 in the vicinity of the inlet opening 7.
