Elektrischer Schalter.

Electric switch.
The invention relates to an electrical switch, in particular of the type which are to be accommodated in the handle of an electrically heated flat iron or a similar device, in which space-saving needs to be taken into account and where the opening and closing of the current takes place when the user holds the handle of the Release the device or grasp it firmly. The aim is to make the handling of such switches more convenient.
The essence of the invention is that a handle lever that can be pivoted independently of the knife is provided with a relatively weak spring that brings it into the open position, while a relatively strong spring actuates the knife in the sense of interrupting the current.
In the drawings, Fig. 1 is an elevation (partial section) of an electric flat iron in which
Handle of the switch designed according to the invention is arranged, the switch being shown in the open position. Fig. 2 is an elevation and section of the handle shown in Fig. 1 - the switch is shown in the closed position - a position which the parts assume when they are in
Be firmly gripped by the user when the switch is closed.
Fig. 3 is also an elevation and section of the handle shown in Fig. 1 showing the contact blade in the process of being triggered; Fig. 4 is a cross-section taken along line 4-4 of Fig. 1; Fig. 5 is a cross-section along line 5-5 of Fig. 3, Fig. 6 is an end view of the flat iron handle showing the position of the leads, and Fig. 7 is a section showing the locking device. FIGS. 6 and 7 are drawn on a larger scale than the other figures.
A is the stationary contact plate, B the movable contact blade (knife), C the switch lever or
Handle, D the spring lock, E the spring acting on the contact blade and F the spring acting on the switch lever. The stationary part carrying the contact is expediently in the form of a bar A. which is arranged in a groove or recess g in the upper side of the handle G and is attached to the handle at both ends by screws a. The handle G is provided with a removable part G ′ which is fastened to the main part of the handle G by means of a screw g, so that part A is accessible for repairs or for inspection by loosening this screw and removing part G ′.
From the lower side of the strip A, two U-shaped contact members A1, A2 and a double U-shaped contact member A. 3 protrude into a recess g2 in the handle G, which contacts are insulated from the bar A in a suitable manner. The knife B carrying the contacts is hinged at b to a block K which is fastened to the underside of the recess and protrudes into the same. On the knife B two contacts B, BI are mounted, which are separated from one another and insulated from the knife B in some suitable manner.
Two line ends J2, J3 come from the usual heating element in the flat iron and are passed through openings in the end of the handle, in that a wire J is led from the line J2 to contact Al and also a wire J1 from the line J3 to contact A2.
The spring E, which regulates the function of the knife B, expediently has the shape of a comparatively strong helical spring, one end of which is attached to the underside of the bar A, while the other end fits into an elevation on the knife B.
Contact B1 on blade B forms a bridge between contact A1 and one side of contact J. when the switch is in the closed position, while contact B2 on blade B forms a bridge between the other side of contact A3 and contact A2 .

EMI2.1
Stuck fetching, arcs will often form between the contacts, and the destructive effect of these arcs is reduced by allowing the arc to occur at the four points in a row.
Since the knife B is articulated and therefore describes an arc, it is necessary to take measures that the contacts are interrupted at all points at the same time. This is done by grading the resting contacts,, s in such a way that contact A3 is longer than A2 and contact A1 is longer than A. 3. The same effect can be achieved by making the contacts B ', JJ2 beveled or tapered or by grading the contacts of both rows.
The switching lever 0 is hinged at c to the block K in the recess g2 in the handle a and, when the switch is in the closed position, fits into the recess in such a way that its remaining part practically adapts to the shape of the handle G (FIG. 2). The inside of the lever C is cut out in such a way that it can accommodate the knife B both in the closed and in the open position of the switch (FIGS. 1 and 2). In the hollow part of the lever 0 there is a block Cl which acts as a stop for the knife B when it is actuated by the spring E, and this block presses the knife B to close the switch when the handle (r and lever C are grasped by the user.
The spring F acts on the lever 0 and constantly tries to pivot it outwards and one end of which is attached to a pin on the post K and the other end to a pin on the lever C. This spring is of sufficient strength to pivot the lever around its pin when it is completely or partially released by the user, but of less force than the spring E acting on the knife B.
So that the user's hand is not strained or tired unnecessarily by gripping it firmly to overcome the force of the spring E and also to remove the moment when the contacts are interrupted from the direct influence of the user and thus to prevent a slow interruption process, is the above mentioned locking device provided. This consists of a latch D which is slidably mounted in grooves in the block K and is held in its advanced position by a spring d in order to grip the nose or projection B3 on knife B (Figs. 1-3 and 4).
At the rear, the bolt D has two projections Dl, which protrude on opposite sides of the bolt.
EMI2.2
Lever C are formed. This latch D holds the knife B in the closed position and the lever C can rotate to a limited extent around its pin under the action of the spring F without the guides C2 pushing the latch D back and freeing the knife B, so that the user not to grasp the handle tightly and not to press the lever 0 strongly.
When the user releases the lever C completely, the spring F moves the lever C to the extreme end of its path outwards, the guides Cl then push the bolt D back (Fig. 3) and the spring E moves the knife B around his Zap and causes a rapid power interruption.
Fig. 3 shows the moment in which when the handle is completely omitted, the handle lever C is fully open and has pushed the bolt D back, so that spring E will immediately push out the knife B, while with the handle lever less open on the nose B '' is held in contact points by the bolt D.
