Process for the production of decolorization particles.

The purpose of the present process is to produce decolorizing charcoal that is equivalent to animal charcoal from vegetable and mineral charcoal. The charcoal according to the present process is also particularly equivalent to the animal charcoal (Carbo animalis) used for medical purposes and in some respects even superior. The process consists of heating alkaline earth sulfate and coal. to subject the calcined mass to a slurry process in order to extract the residue from the liquid, which consists of charcoal, with acid, after which a further calcination can take place.

The amount of coal used must be significantly greater than is necessary to reduce the alkaline earth sulfates used, so that the coal is not completely consumed in the reduction of the alkaline earth sulfates, but is available in considerable quantities. The process can be carried out by mixing carbonaceous substances or alternatively carbonaceous substances with alkaline earth metal sulfates and then subjecting them to the process. However, the alkaline earth sulfates can also be deposited on the coal by impregnating carbon or carbonaceous substances with an alkaline earth metal salt and then introducing alkali metal sulfate. It then forms in the upper layers of the coal earth

PATENT CLAIMS: l. Process for the production of decolorizing charcoal, characterized in that carbon-containing substances of any origin or charcoal of any kind are mixed with alkaline earth sulfate, then heavily annealed, the annealed mass is subjected to a slurry process and the deposited carbon is extracted with acid, whereupon another annealing can take place.
