Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

  Lichtschutzpräparate gegen kurzwelliges Licht.
 EMI1.1

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 Depending on the indication, different concentrations can be incorporated or in the form of aqueous, alcoholic or other solutions, which are instilled or injected into the parts of the body to be protected from the undesirable effects of light. The preparations produced in this way serve not only to prevent all types of pathological conditions (erythema solare, glacier fire, pigmentations, freckles, summer prurigo, hydroestival, xeroderma, pigmentosum, pellagra, beriberi, etc.), which with the action of direct, indirect and reflected short-wave Rays of sunlight are causally related, but also in practical therapy with artificial light sources (e.g.

   B. the mercury vapor quartz lamp, artificial sunlamp, Krommayer lamp, metal electrode lamp, etc.) for light protection of those parts of the body on which an effect of the applied short-wave light is not desired.

   Compared to the preparations used up to now, the naphthol preparations mentioned offer the advantage of more complete absorption of the ultraviolet rays and particularly good protection of the human organism against light damage, in addition to being harmless to the organism.

   The mentioned light stabilizers can be used not only for medical, but also for photochemical processes in which the harmful effect of individual zones or the entire ultraviolet is to be switched off by light filters. On the other hand, they also act in appropriate concentrations in photographic layers as sensitizers or also as exciters of fluorescence for radiant energy, particularly short wavelengths; the good technical effect consists in a shortening of the exposure time through sensitization and in the appearance of bright fluorescent light in such layers or screens.

   These preparations can also be used in other technical fields, where it is a question of protection against sudden light.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Light stabilizers to prevent the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays, characterized by the use of naphthol sulfonic acids or their salts and the analogously composed derivatives of anthracene with or without the addition of alkaline substances.
