and thus an electrical circuit occurs. To interrupt the circuit, the pushbutton g protruding on the other side must now be pressed in, the elastic body snapping back in the manner described above at lightning speed. In this case, the contact springs follow the metal plates i expediently up to the middle position, at which position the circuit is interrupted at lightning speed, so that no arc can occur.
The wall switch illustrated in FIGS. 3-5 consists of a housing m which can be fastened to the wall in a known manner by means of screws, in the corresponding notches of which the elastic body c causing the instantaneous switching off is articulated and fixedly clamped in the manner described above. The effect and the components of this switch are completely identical to the effect or the components of the lens switch.
The pimple holder shown in Fig. 7 and 8 consists of the hollow bottom piece it and the upper part o that can be screwed into it In the direction of the line connecting them, they can resiliently yield or move. For this purpose, the two ends of the elastic body are arranged at the angles 1'1 of the peculiarly curved spring r, which rests freely with their ends on the bottom surface a1. The push button s attached to the elastic body c is surrounded here by a tubular push button t which rests against the bow spring r.
In the position of the elastic body c illustrated in the drawing, the circuit is closed. If the tubular pushbutton t is now pressed in, the spring r is gradually flattened by this pushbutton t, the angles 1'1 serving for the articulated clamping being removed from one another, so that the elastic body that was previously pushed through stretches. This position is illustrated in FIG. 9 with dashed lines and it corresponds to the unstable or central position. If you now press the pushbutton further in, the elastic body c snaps over at lightning speed into the position illustrated in FIG. 9 with dotted lines.
During this snapping over, the elastic body c takes the push button s with it, so that the lower end of the latter protrudes from the bore of the second push button t surrounding it. If you now push in the protruding end of the push button s, the elastic body snaps back with the mode of action described above, which corresponds to the renewed closing of the circuit. In this embodiment, contact springs are also expediently arranged, which follow the elastic body into the unstable position (middle position) when the current is interrupted, in order to bring about a lightning-fast current interruption in this position.
In this exemplary embodiment, the joint support points (the angles (1)) can move in the direction of their connecting line. The arrangement can, however, also be made so that one support point is articulated and fixed, while the other is articulated and flexible. The effect in this case is completely the same.
Instead of the band-shaped elastic body used in the exemplary embodiments described above, it is also possible to use resilient metal wires or membranes made from elastic metal or from other corresponding materials (e.g. celluloid or the like) which, according to the present invention, are attached to the ends or are articulated and fixed or articulated and resiliently clamped in the axial or radial direction.
It should also be mentioned that the switch forming the subject of the present invention can be used not only for switching electrical circuits on and off, but also advantageously for producing mechanical couplings (shaft couplings or the like), especially in those cases in which the lightning-fast tours; the coupling or release of the same is important.
