Receiving device for sound waves transmitted in media of great compressibility.
To record sound waves that are propagated through the air, one usually uses a record or a similar membrane-like structure, which is set in motion by the sound waves and tries to transmit its movement to a display device, e.g. a microphone is. The air mass moved during the sound process is extremely small, the amplitude of the moving air, on the other hand, is relatively large, while it is the peculiarity of most detectors, in particular. z. B. the microphones and especially the electromagnet is that they respond best to small movements that are exerted with relatively great force.
If one connects the moving parts of the detectors, as has been the case up to now, directly and rigidly with the receiving organ set in motion by the air, then this is braked by the detector, and it even often forms precisely at the location of the receiving organ where the detector attacks, more or less one node, while neighboring zones vibrate violently, but without releasing their energy to the detector. Apart from the fact that in this way the vibration form of the receiving organ is completely distorted. As can be easily seen, the reception process takes place with an inferior degree of efficiency.
This disadvantage is countered by inserting a transmission element between the receiving element (the sound membrane) and the detector, which at different points executes movement amplitudes of different magnitudes, u. Zw. the activation takes place in this way; that the point coupled to the radiation organ has greater amplitudes of movement than that coupled to the detector

to translate power on the emitter into one of great power over a smaller path on the detector.
The simplest organ suitable for this is the lever. It is attached to the emitter with the longer lever arm and to the detector with the shorter lever. If a lever of normal design with axle, pin or point bearings is used in the pivot point, then, for the sake of the relatively small sound movements, great care must be taken with the design of the pivot joints. According to the invention, such bearings are avoided at all and replaced by constrictions or filings on the otherwise rigid lever or by flexible springs. With proper use of the improved

Form ribs and free zones acting as bending points.
In the figures, the embodiments of the invention are shown in schematic form.
It shows: FIG. 1 a receiving system with a lever, FIGS. 2 and 3 receiving systems with lever-like structures.
In FIG. 1, 1 denotes a sound diaphragm which is clamped in a rigid ring 2. In its center, a lever 3 is attached by the flexible spring 4, which on the other hand is also seated with a flexible spring 5 on a fixed abutment. The lever carries a microphone 6 in the vicinity of the flexible spring 5. The membrane 1 essentially follows the amplitudes of movement of the air molecules, which are now transmitted by the lever 3 in a correspondingly reduced scale and with a correspondingly increased force depending on the position of the microphone on the lever are transmitted to the microphone 6.
In FIG. 2, the membrane 1 is coupled to a second membrane, which in turn has radial stiffening ribs. The center 11 and the outer edge 12 of this membrane are left free from the ribs so that they can act as bending points. In the vicinity of the outer edge, the ribs 13 are engaged by flexible springs 14 which, on the other hand, are attached to the outer tips of the rays of a rigid star-shaped structure 15. A microphone 6 is attached to the central part of the star 15.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
A further modification of an arrangement according to FIG. 2 is shown in FIG. 3; the special membrane provided with ribs is omitted here, and the actual receiving membrane itself is provided with such ribs. The other details correspond to FIG. 2. The membrane 1 in FIG. 3 can vibrate in its central part with large amplitudes. Through the interposition of the link? J, which acts at points of smaller amplitude of the membrane, the microphone 6 is coupled to these points of smaller amplitude.
In the figures, which naturally do not include all possible modifications, for the sake of simplicity of the drawing, microphones are shown as detectors. However, any other type of display device can be used just as well, in particular devices that work with moving magnets or current conductors. Furthermore, one will not use free receiving membranes on both sides in the construction of such devices, which are already approached, for example, in FIGS.
In view of the low mass of the air moved during the sound process, one must also ensure that both the receiving diaphragms 1 and the other parts, such as levers etc., have a low mass. It is of course all the more important to pay attention to this fact, the closer the structural parts in question are to places of great movement amplitude.
