Another air or gas heater can of course also be used. If a coke or hard coal furnace is available, the escaping combustion gases, which if necessary have been brought to a suitable temperature, can be used as drying gases.
Ordinary atmospheric air that has been dried in some way can also be used. can easily be used with more or less effect instead of heated air.
The main purpose is to create a moisture-absorbing atmosphere. Perhaps dry, superheated steam could be used for this purpose for dry goods that do not suffer from heat, but this would be impractical for cables, since the heat must not be so high that the insulation is significantly softened or otherwise deleteriously influenced.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for drying electrical cables and the like., Characterized in that in the vacuum drying chamber exposed to the action of an air pump or the like. Hot, dry air is introduced in such a small amount that the existing Yacuum is almost maintained and a constant , the air flow greedily sucking in moisture pervades the drying chamber.
