Tube mill for wet grinding.
Tubular ball mills with feed of the material to be ground in the middle of one end of the drum, as described, for example, in German Patent No. 62871, are suitable as dry mills, but not as wet mills, according to previous experience. If the raw material to be ground has a pulpy, semi-liquid consistency due to the addition of water, the gradient between the inlet and outlet for the advancement of the ground material comes into effect to a greater extent, and this has the consequence that, when the mill is stopped, the Movement of the ground material towards the discharge point continues for some time and a mixture of completely ground and only partly
EMI1.1
The object is achieved with the present invention. to redesign the mill in question so that it can be used as a wet mill.
For this purpose, the front wall b, which closes off the grinding drum a on the discharge side, is provided in its central part with numerous holes c, which are thus distributed. that the outer holes protrude more from the center axis of the grinding drum than the inner wall surface of the hollow pin used to introduce the ground material. The difference in height between the inlet and discharge point, which causes the material to be ground to advance through the grinding drum, therefore remains, only that it is less here with regard to the greater mobility of the wet material to be ground.
The end wall b on the discharge tunnel of the grinding drum a is surrounded by a curved base e which forms the outer closure of the grinding drum. A hollow pin f is connected to this base in the middle, through which the finished grist is discharged.
A hollow cone g, which is inserted between the end plate b and the curved base e and whose base area facing the end plate is kept so large that it encloses the holes (), serves to transfer the material to be ground through the lower holes c when the mill rotates into the hollow pin. In this cone several, in the drawing six, helically wound plates h are inserted, the width of which, corresponding to the tapering of the cone, decreases after the tip of the same.
If the mill is in motion, the cone with its worm flights has a similar effect
EMI1.2
even if you let the mill go backwards for a short time, the ground material that has entered the hollow cone can be returned to the grinding drum for further grinding.
The introduction of the material to be ground into the mill, if it is sear nutty, can be done directly through a tube opening into the hollow pin, as indicated in the drawing, or, in the case of less liquid material, by feeding it into a body and conveying it further through a screw.
