Mikrophon.
Fig. 2 eine Rückansicht desselben und.
Fig. 3 ein Einzelheitsschnitt.

Microphone.
The microphone according to the present invention belongs to that class in which a change in the resistance of the circuit is caused by the vibration of the grains of coal, caused by the sound waves, in order to express the sound waves again in a known manner by induction in the receiver.
As with other grain microphones, the grain chamber is firmly connected to the membrane, and the new thing can be seen in the fact that the membrane has a bowl-like bulge in its center, which is closed off by a plate firmly attached to the membrane. The bottom of this bowl and the end plate, which are rigidly connected, serve as a carrier for the electrodes, between which the grains of coal are loosely arranged.
The drawings represent an exemplary embodiment:
Fig. I is a vertical longitudinal section through the microphone,
Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same and.
3 shows a detail section.
The housing 1 is screwed to the mouthpiece 2 and closed on the rear by a plate 3. The plate 3 is attached to the housing by screws 5 and inside 6 of this housing there is the membrane 7, which is enclosed at its edge by a soft rubber ring 8 in order to dampen natural vibrations as far as possible.
In comparison with the mouthpiece 2, the membrane is bulged at 10, and the bottom wall 11 of this bowl-like bulge carries the electrode 13 with the inclusion of a metal plate 12 which has a short screw 15 in the middle. This screw is secured by the nut 16. Opposed to this electrode is another electrode 17, fastened in a similar manner to a plate 18 which is fastened by screws 20 and nuts 21 to the connection plate 22 of the bowl-like bulge. The end wall 22 consists of insulation material and is firmly connected to the membrane by rivets 23.
The power is supplied through the wires 26 and 27, one of which is connected to the electrode 17 by the nut 20, while the other is attached to a rivet 23 with the intermediary of the nut 28.
A ring 25 is inserted between the rivet heads or nut 28 and the cover disk 22. Several felt pads 30 are attached to the rear wall 3 to secure the membrane in place.
The space of the chamber 10 is largely filled by loose grains of coal 31, and when sound waves strike the membrane, the two walls 11, 22 will vibrate in the same way. The vibration of the coal particles, which are under constant pressure, changes the resistance in the circuit.
